4 Lies that harm your ability to follow God
Fearfulness, worry, judging others & keeping the wrong people in your life
Following God is a process of lightening up, jettisoning the baggage so you can walk with and rise to perfect peace and overwhelming love.
Live in a space of being in the presence of God—meaning, stop blocking out God’s presence as most people constantly do, and stop blocking out the holy gifts God offers, and that he alone can offer.
LIE #1 Fear.
Fear of lack, fear of death, etc. Instead, begin from a place of: “This is the day the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad in it! how can I serve God today with my talents today?”
LIE #2 Worry.
Rest assured, you are supported. Have total assurance that God will give you only the best. Make room for huge blessings by leaving behind all worry, including and especially regarding money. God will provide.
LIE #3 That it is OK to judge others (including family members)
The reason the bible says not to judge is that we have no ability to judge others accurately. They are dealing with their own history, karma, abilities, life’s purpose and path that you can’t possibly know. So do not judge. Instead simply observe. Ask God to help you see what you need to see with eyes unclouded by your own issues. Then you will see with the eyes of love, understanding and acceptance. Remember that you judge only because you cannot clearly see as God sees.
LIE #4 That really bad people belong in your life just because they are family or the same ethnicity, religion, etc.
Make peace with it all. Forgive. Release the burdens of the past. Forgive and let go. Ask God to help you open your eyes to the lessons that are here for you. Sometimes that’s the wisest and most Godly thing to do! This is a hard lesson to digest. But there’s no self-respecting choice when family members are so disrespectful and intent on doing harm, devoid of love and self-respect. No benefit is possible from any interaction. Too few people understand this truth.
Often family members are given simply to make peace and say good-bye. It’s painful because we think they owe us decency and support, but we must relinquish all claims on people totally unable (too psychologically immature) to be decent or supportive, even with themselves, even if theoretically they’d like to be. A growing number of people are utterly unable to do so, unfortunately.
Don't take my word for it but always take everything to God in prayer. It's very important to pray about what's right for you in your own situation before cutting anyone off.
As a rule of thumb, #4 only applies to weeds, not to the ordinary thorns found on roses, if you will. In other words, be understanding of the foibles of others and try to create the best conditions in which all can flourish. We all have our own strengths, weaknesses and talents. But if they go out of their way to conduct a smear campaign behind your back, selectively spreading lies only to people who don't know you very well and therefore don't know any better, or if they tell lie after pernicious lie trying to label you something you have absolutely NO such history with AT ALL, or if they try to steal your bank account number, you get the picture, then have nothing to do with such a person. They may think themselves very clever, imagining they’re really pulling one over on everyone, but such people will never be healed and whole and well. All we can do is release them for God to deal with them.
Meditation Exercise: Give every situation to God for him to work his perfect will.
Ask him to open the eyes of your heart to help you see and stay close to God at every step. Take time to soak in God’s love and peace as you relax every muscle in your body. Feel totally supported because you are!
