Brandon of Last Days has a message about praying that nothing bad would happen over the next 48 hours or so. It might be wise to avoid crowds and celebrations this holiday unless you get the go ahead in prayer that it will be safe to do so.
Many plots and plans have been thwarted by prayer, so let’s get to it.
Today I remembered that in 2002 I went to NYC to buy a computer and just by chance as I was getting into the car I had the privilege of seeing the beautiful fireworks go off with the majestic Statue of Liberty not so far away in the distance — incredible coincidence!
It felt like something worth reflecting upon, then and now.
In 2001, Debbie Reynolds and Cyndi Lauper gave fantastic performances as part of the free 4th of July outdoor concert in Boston. I was one of hundreds of thousands of people picnicking on the Boston and Cambridge sides of the river, but we were too far away to see a thing. Afterward it took hours to get home as so many people all needed to take the subway home at the same time, just a few at a time. We couldn’t have known it was the end of an era.
Frankly, it’s better watching it on TV. Whatever you do this 4th of July, have a great one!
