First, I want to apologize for Part I of this topic being too abbreviated. Each thought is informed by a lot of background information (including about scripture) that readers may not have, such as this info on Ukraine, so some readers may jump to conclusions I actually do not share. So let me slow down and lay out my thoughts more completely.

The Friday

Is Putin like Hitler? No, I’ve never thought so. A common misconception in the media is that he or they are eager to take over the globe, but what I honestly see is that they could’ve done that long ago if that was their goal. The USSR never tried it and neither has Russia. This is fear talking. It’s clear they have been trying to solve it. But I suspect war is making them increasingly corrupt, as it does with any country.

But even Hitler was not always the psychopath he became. After his niece committed suicide, his thinking changed and he morphed into the person he became.

What I fear is that the US itself has experienced that kind of metamorphosis into something it had never been before after 9/11, the subsequent wars, natural disasters and terrorism. Everything is pushing us down spiritually, including entertainment (Clive Davis and Pity Diddy), the internet, the news, and institutional changes particularly in education seem to have changed the personality of a great nation into one that feels vulnerable, even powerless.

In sum, the US is no fun anymore. That’s why young people have resorted to drugs and other escapes so much now, which may lead to guilt, and certainly leads to a multiplicity of other problems. You may not believe it, and I’m sure it’s not true everywhere in the US, but I never saw an illegal drug my entire time in school, in college, or in grad school. Why would we need them? We were already having a blast, like the Spartan Cheerleaders (aired in 1997)!

Hard to believe, but when I was in grade school, kids had all the rights of full US citizenship, including total freedom of speech, including in our school publications. Of course! How can one learn to be an equal citizen if you are not equal the first 18 years of your life (as the Supreme Court actually later declared, reversing its previous position)!
